Thursday, August 7
- Adding sounds/jokes into the animation
- Finishing animation of the mock up of the installation to preview the user interaction/ user scenario
- the user/audience leave the room - computers starts joking - the user/audience return and interrupt the jokes of the computers - the user/audience stay still in the room - no action - computers think they are alone - the computers start laughing even if the user/audience stays in the room too much time
- Deciding which platform we should use for the final installation since we were experimenting different softwares and programs. We decided to work with processing since we were using Firmata.
- Installing software and libraries in Windows platform. Testing if the programs for the text-to-speech works.
- We've also decided to leave out real screens, making them from cardboard so that the focus remains on the moving CPU boxes
- Eduardo joined our team and will help with the construction of the final set up of the installation in cardboard.
- It's pouring today and we've had several blackout. Katya and Alejandro went out to buy us cardboard, pens and glue and i hope they've found some shelter.
- Hector went to the dentist and ate some sushi
- Many participants of interactivos are suffering from hangovers after a party in condessa last night
- Zach made some headway making firmata work with openframworks
Wednesday, August 6
- Writing the jokes
- Creating the stop-motion animation for the mock up.
- Using Arduino to make the circuit that translates sound to light in order to simulate the computers speaking.
- Jenny went to portales with Katya, Laura, and Marcos to find electronic components, cookies, fruit and milk
Tuesday, August 5
- Building the mock up for previewing the user scenarios.
- Starting to create in Processing a sketch to make video sensing in order to measure the position of the user/audience.Using the processing.video library
- Ultrasonic range sensors were set up and configured, but after speaking with Zach, we've decided to use video sensing.
Monday August 4
- Writing a program that loads the jokes as a text file into Processing and stores them into a 2-dimensional array
- Working with Arduino - using |Firmata to program the ATMEL chip directly from processing
Sunday, August 3
- We got the day off, we went to the market and saw some crazy things
Saturday, August 2
Today we worked on:
- no one remembers
Friday, August 1
- Starting to work on the text-to-speech technology. Seeing different possibilities since we are not using a mac and we need to have the computers speaking in Spanish:
- Using Rita Library that contains an object |RiSpeech that allows to do text-to-speech - Trying to install | Mbrola to use together with Rita library since we want to use 2 different voices, one for each computer - Since Mbrola doesn't allow us to load into Processing Spanish voices we had to go by using other different programs as festival to load different 2 spanish voices
