1. Describe the goal of the project in 3 sentences (which message do you want to carry? to whom?)
We will like to be able to make people understand that the environmental impact is a complex phenomenon and that say that something is good or bad for the environment implies that somebody has decided how relatively important are the different environmental impact effects, it means for example whether our health or the depletion of non renewable resources is more important. We will like facilitating people to understand these things in order to try to make them capable of discussing these arguments.
2. What are the inspiring projects and theories)? (background, context, references,...)
We have no references; our background about visualization is very little.
3. What is the short-term objective (what do you expect to finish in 2 weeks)?
We expect to have an interesting exchange of ideas about the perception of environmental impact with the collaborators and to be able to have a clearer idea about how to communicate this complex idea of environmental impact.
4. What is the long term objective (what posterior development do you think of)?'
We, the organizers, work in the environmental impact modelling, we evaluate construction products and the images and communication strategies will be very useful for us in our daily work.
5. What are the data (status, where do they come from, who specifically owns the data?)
The data are the results of the environmental impact modelling software SimaPro. This software takes the data from private databases; we have access to them through the license of the software.
6. How will you convert data into some perceptual experience?
Carefully and with love…? We will see...
7. Do you have any assumptions or previous hypothesis?
No.
8. What should happen so you can say the project has been a success? (we have added this question)
Be able to make people understand that environmental impact is complex, the different effects that environmental impact creates, that those effects affect their lives and that in their role as consumers they can make things change thinking about the way they consume and changing it if they want.

Datos / Sources, data structure, etc

The data that we are going to visualize are the result of the environmental impact modelling of the transport of people and products. This environmental impact modelling will be made using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology. The calculations of the impacts will be made with the software SimaPro.
